Griffin concentrates his practice in the areas of business and commercial disputes in state and federal court, as well as creditors and debtors in bankruptcy reorganizations. He has also been assigned as lead counsel to foreclosure actions, debt restructuring agreements, workout arrangements, and settlement representation.
Griffin's practice has involved lawsuits containing allegations of intentional and negligence-based business torts, breaches of contract, and violations of securities regulations. As a result, he has significant experience in commercial collection matters, judgment enforcement, settlement and forbearance agreements, and post-judgment negotiations. His bankruptcy experience has entailed work on behalf creditors and debtors alike, on matters including first day motions, adversary proceedings, stay relief motions, motions to appoint a trustee, asset valuation, fraudulent conveyances, and non-dischargeability actions. His client representation has included lenders, venture capitalists, private equity investment firms, healthcare facilities, medical field companies, electric and construction businesses, and a billion dollar publicly traded company.
Griffin received his law degree from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington in 2002. While at Indiana University, Griffin was a member of the Federal Communications Law Journal and author of "Carnivore, The FBI's E-mail Surveillance System: Devouring Criminals, Not Privacy", 54 Fed. Comm. L.J. 543 (2002). Griffin was also awarded the Best Brief Award in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition.
Before joining MGLAW, Griffin was a Captain in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, where he served as lead counsel in over 40 jury and bench trials and as appellate counsel in over 80 cases. Griffin is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations.
