Law Students

MGLAW selectively recruits students with a strong record of achievement in law school and a demonstrated interest in living and working in Nashville. The firm conducts on-campus interviews of Vanderbilt University Law School 2Ls in the fall semester of their second year. MGLAW also actively solicits resumes from 2Ls at the following schools: Duke, Emory, Northwestern, University of Chicago, University of North Carolina, University of Tennessee, University of Texas, University of Virginia, and Wake Forest University.

Summer Associate Program
The firm's summer program is designed to provide summer associates with a realistic view of the practice of law at MGLAW. Assignments are generally presented directly by the lawyer seeking assistance. During the program, summer associates have the opportunity to work with each attorney in the firm. The summer associate also has numerous opportunities to participate in trials, court hearings, depositions, negotiations, and client meetings. The firm also plans social activities to give the summer associate, attorneys, and their families a chance to become better acquainted. The goal of the firm's summer program is to provide both the summer associate and the firm with the opportunity to determine if the personality, skills, and goals of the firm and the individual correspond.

Associate Development
A summer associate's stated preferences are matched with the firm's needs, and, upon hiring, the associate is immediately integrated into one or more of the firm's practice areas. MGLAW offers young associates ongoing mentoring support, while encouraging them to assume substantial responsibility for client matters. The firm invests heavily in each of its associates to provide the training and experience necessary to reach the professional goals of the associate and the firm.
